Twisted takes colour inspiration from classic Ferraris for new Defender commission

Classic model has Twisted’s usual focus on high-quality craftsmanship.
UK-based car engineering firm Twisted has created one of its latest Defender-based creations, which takes a design cue from classic Italian sports cars.
Based on a Defender 110, the commission has been completely rebuilt by the Yorkshire-based outfit, with a full 2,500-hour chassis-up build implemented to help the car look and feel its best both inside and out.
Key to the new creation is a ‘Hyperion Blue’ paint shade which has traditionally been used on Ferrari and Maserati models from the 1960s. It, and another commission, are set to make their debut at the upcoming Bridge X event in Bridgehampton, New York, next week.

Phil Chapman, Twisted’s head of brand, said: “Taking a shade traditionally reserved for 1960s Italian supercars and draping it over a rugged, boxy British utility icon is unapologetically Twisted.
“Our philosophy has always been about rebellion. We take something raw, strip away its factory flaws and elevate it to an anti-ordinary standard. Bringing our obsession to the historic grounds of Bridgehampton for the very first time, and meeting US collectors face-to-face is a major milestone for our brand.”
The second car on display is finished in a Stirling Moss blue model also based on the Defender 110. Both cars have undergone the same thorough nut-and-bolt restoration, while each car also uses a powerful LT1 small-block V8 engine which produces around 450bhp.
The Bridge X event is set to take place from September 18 to September 20.
