The A9 has reopened following a lorry fire near Aviemore that saw it closed in both directions early on Thursday.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on the A9 northbound at 4.36am, and three fire engines were in attendance.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the blaze had started in one of the lorry’s tyres.

The fire service said crews were stood down at 6.26am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said there are no reported injuries.

The road was closed for a number of hours following the incident, but police have confirmed it has now fully reopened.
