Friarton Bridge reopens following recycling centre fire

A section of motorway which was closed because of a fire has reopened.
The Friarton Bridge on the M90 in Perth was closed in the early hours of Tuesday after a fire broke out at a recycling centre, with smoke rising on to the carriageway.
Traffic Scotland said at around 1pm that the route had reopened.
It said on social media site X: “After a busy morning on our network the M90 Friarton Bridge is now open and running well.”
The bridge was closed while fire crews tackled the blaze on Lower Friarton Road.
The public was advised to avoid the area if possible because of the smoke, and nearby residents were urged to keep their windows closed.
Fire crews remain in attendance.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are still on scene at the recycling centre at Lower Friarton Road.
We have two appliances and two special appliances in attendance.”
