Man, 78, dies and passenger airlifted to hospital after van crash

A man has died and one person was airlifted to hospital following a one-vehicle crash on a country road.
Emergency services were called to the A822 near Amulree in Perthshire at around 12.20pm on Friday.
Police said the 78-year-old man driving the vehicle, a Volkswagen van, was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the passengers, a 58-year-old man, was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by air ambulance.
The other people in the vehicle were checked over by paramedics at the scene.
Police are appealing for information about the crash as investigations to establish what happened continue.
Sergeant John McDiarmid said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died in this collision, as well as those who were in the van.
“While we’ve spoken to a number of witnesses already, I’d appeal to anyone else who saw what happened, or the vehicle before the crash, to come forward.
“Can I also please ask anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage of the A822 area to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
The road was closed for investigations following the crash and reopened at around 7.30pm.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1335 of November 28.
