Man arrested following attack that left woman critically ill in hospital
A man has been arrested following an incident that has left a young woman critically ill in hospital.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of violent offences.
He was later charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault and criminal damage, and is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Earlier, Inspector Philip McCullough issued an appeal for any witnesses to come forward.
“We received a report at around 4.40pm on Tuesday that a young woman had been seriously assaulted in the Brucevale Park area. She remains in hospital in a critical condition,” he said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who has CCTV or other footage that could assist with police enquiries is asked to call 101, quoting reference 1144 of 08/07/25.
