Now, it has unveiled its first new concept, which points towards what future models could look like – the Vision Alpina.

Unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event in Italy, the Vision Alpina is a 2+2 coupe powered by a V8 engine – though Alpina hasn’t released any performance or output figures for the powertrain.

On the outside, the Vision Alpina measures in at 5.2 metres long – making it the same length as some Rolls-Royce models – while a sweeping roofline helps to give the whole car an aerodynamic design. Up front, there’s a new interpretation of the BMW kidney grille, which is framed by white LEDs.

In typical Alpine style, the Vision car sits on large alloy wheels with 22-inch front and 23-inch rear wheels showcasing a classic 20-spoke design.placeholder image

Oliver Viellechner, head of BMW Alpina, said: “BMW Alpina fills a gap in our portfolio between BMW and Rolls-Royce as we see even more potential in the high-end segment. With Alpina we have a strong legacy and a global community, which we want to build on, while pre serving the essence of what the brand stands for—speed, comfort and sophistication,“

Inside, there are seats finished in full-grain leather while the hand-stitched steering wheel features Alpina’s classic blue and green colours. All of the metal components inside have been given a bevelled finish, and behind the rear console, you’ll find a glass water bottle with Alpina-branded crystal glasses. BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system handles all key infotainment and media functions, too.

Though there’s little chance that the Vision Alpina will make it into production, the concept will likely serve as an insight into what future cars from the brand will look like.
