Police investigate after driver is threatened with suspected firearm

Armed police officers descended on an Inverness street on Friday evening following reports a driver had been threatened by a man with a suspected firearm.
The incident, which police are treating as an attempted armed robbery, took place on Lochalsh Road at about 9pm on September 13.
Police said a man approached a vehicle and threatened the driver with what was believed to be a firearm.
The driver left the scene, and there were no injuries.
Officers arrived on the scene and a search was carried out, and inquiries are ongoing to trace the man.
He is described as white, about 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, and he was wearing a dark-coloured, rain jacket with the hood up, and a grey-coloured scarf covering his face.
Detective Constable Pamela Dugdale said: “I’d like to reassure the public, we have extra patrols in the area for reassurance and we do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.
“As we continue to try to trace this man, I’d ask for any information which may assist.
“Were you in the area at the time and saw what happened or anyone acting suspiciously? Do you have dashcam footage or private CCTV which may have captured something of significance? If you do, please get in touch.”
Police Scotland are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference 3896 of September 13, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
