Railway station closed for day due to nearby chemical spillage

A chemical spillage has led to a Highland railway station being closed for the rest of the day.
On X, ScotRail said that the spillage, which occurred near Inverness train station, had led to its closure for the remainder of Tuesday.
The railway operator made the announcement at around 7.30pm.
A spokesperson said: “Due to a chemical spillage near the railway at Inverness, services will be disrupted.
“Train services running to and from this station will be cancelled, delayed or revised.
“Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
In a further update, ScotRail said services between Perth and Inverness, and between Aberdeen and Inverurie and Elgin, had also been cancelled.
A number of replacement buses were confirmed, including three which will run from Perth and one from Aberdeen.
The operator added: “Due to there being no transport available from Inverness at present, customers are advised to make their own arrangements as we cannot guarantee they will be able to complete your journey tonight.”
