Teenager charged after death of man in Fort William

A teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 25-year-old man in Fort William.

Officers were called to an incident in Grange Road at about 9.55pm on Thursday.

Police Scotland said the 19-year-old was due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court in due course.

The force said additional patrols were being put on in the area, and that there was no wider threat to the community.

Detective Inspector Calum Reid said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time and our officers will continue to support them as the investigation continues.

“I’m aware this incident will be of concern to the local community but I would like to reassure the public that additional patrols are in the area as part of the ongoing investigation and there is no wider threat to the community.”
