An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a road traffic offence following a crash that led to the death of a 60-year-old man.

The crash involving a Skoda Octavia and a white Toyota pick-up took place on March 5 on the A9, near Lynwilg, close to Aviemore.

The driver of the Skoda, Roy Bannerman, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries and died on March 8.

The 18-year-old had previously been arrested and released pending further inquiries.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay, of the Dingwall roads policing unit, previously said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Bannerman, who have requested privacy at this difficult time.

“We will continue to offer them support as our investigations progress.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far.

“We would ask that anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the incident to please get in touch.

“Any piece of information, no matter how small, may be vital to our investigation.”
