Students across Scotland are due to receive SQA exam results on Tuesday, though Storm Floris has caused a delay in some parts.

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) said on Monday that Royal Mail deliveries to the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland were impacted, and that other delays might occur at short notice.

Some 147,000 students across the country are due to receive their National, Higher and Advanced Higher results, with education minister Jenny Gilruth due to visit a school to mark the occasion.

In a statement posted online, the SQA said: “Due to the widespread disruption caused by Storm Floris, Royal Mail has confirmed that there will be delays to the delivery of SQA results in several parts of Scotland.

“In particular, we know deliveries to the Outer Hebrides, Orkney, and Shetland will be delayed due to the adverse weather.

“Further localised delays to deliveries may occur at short notice.”

The authority said if any affected pupils wish to know their results, they should contact their school in the first instance for help.

The SQA said it does not anticipate any impact on the MySQA text and email service.

Learners can also submit an inquiry via its website at https://www.sqa.org.uk/learnerenquiry and their query will be responded to after 12pm on Tuesday.
