The Late Late Toy Show set to break viewing records

The Late Late Toy Show airs this Friday and could break records as the highest viewed iteration of the iconic TV show, according to Ladbrokes.

The annual show officially kicks off Christmas in Ireland and is set to be the best yet and most viewed at 5/1. The theme of this year’s show has not been announced yet, but the odds of are strongly in favour of the critically acclaimed Broadway musical turned movie Wicked at 2/1.

Bookies have released odds of the colour of Patrick Kielty’s jumper for the night with white coming out on top at evens, the odds of a red at 2/1 and green at 4/1.

After a rollercoaster year and a Grammy nomination, Cork rap group Kabin Crew are evens to appear as a musical guest on the show. Kildare artist CMAT is 5/1 to appear and Dongeal icon Daniel O’Donnell is at 9/1 to make the country kids’ dream come true.

Following his leading role in Gladiator II, Paul Mescal is at 6/1 to make an appearance on the show, fellow successful actor Barry Keoghan is at 4/1 and Carlow’s Saoirse Ronan is at 10/1 to grace the show after a busy stint of promoting her movies The Outrun and Blitz.

It has been speculated that Irish Olympic sports stars will surprise and delight the kids on the show, including Rhasidat Adeleke (2/1) and Armagh’s Daniel Wiffen (3/1).

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes commented: “It’s one of the most anticipated nights of the year and the Late Late Toy Show is gearing up to be the best yet, potentially with a spectacularly Wicked theme. Speculation is rife of who will surprise the children on the night, with the likes of Paul Mescal, Kabin Crew and Daniel O’Donnell in the mix! The odds are on Kielty to be wearing white while also garnering the highest viewership. Either way, Christmas officially kicks off this Friday, with music, entertainment, and Christmas toys galore!”
