The Indian Ambassador to Ireland Akhilesh Mishra along with his wife Reeti recently undertook a familiarisation trip to Carlow, including Delta Sensory Gardens on his itinerary.
Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Aileen Broderick and Chief Executive Officer Joe Meany welcomed the ambassador on his arrival, providing an overview of the centre and the services it provides to the Carlow community. The tourism experience of the gardens which is enjoyed by thousands of local Irish and international visitors, was also outlined to the ambassador.
Bob Frazier guided the ambassador around the gardens, highlighting the sixteen individual gardens which, combined make Delta a stunning garden attraction and a highlight on the Carlow Garden Trail.
Bob also took the opportunity to show the ambassador the many beautiful sculpture pieces located throughout the garden, which he himself has crafted. The ambassador was very impressed both by the overall standard of the gardens and the strong community spirit which was very evident in its operation.
Noting the gardens as providing a friendly, welcoming, and high-quality experience he wished everybody involved in their operation continued success. The Ambassador concluded his two-hour visit to the gardens with lunch in Café Thyme, the on-site restaurant which has proven hugely popular with both local people and visitors to the gardens.
The Delta Sensory Gardens are open: Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm Weekends and Public Holidays : 11:00am – 5:00pm
Café Thyme offers delicious lunches, tea, coffee, and snacks with outdoor dining options also available in the gardens which makes for a lovely alternative
