Carlow Town Hall
More than €91,000 in funding has been granted by the Heritage Council for Carlow heritage projects.
The grant funding will go towards supporting seven heritage-led regeneration plans across Carlow town and county.
Some €40,000 has been allocated for the regeneration of Carlow town through Carlow County Council. €15,000 has been granted for the placenames of County Carlow and environs, while more than €5,000 has been allocated to the Drummin bog project and more than €4,600 has been approved for the Cranavane Holy Well Committee Project.
Local Fianna Fáil TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor has welcomed the announcement, saying: “I’m delighted that the Heritage Council has approved seven grants totalling more than €91,000 for local heritage-led regeneration projects.
“Our heritage needs to be protected and this funding will ensure the historic buildings in Carlow town centre will be enhanced. It will make the town and its environs more attractive for visitors.
“It will also allow smaller community projects such as Drummin Bog Project and the Rathanna National School Memories Project to go ahead.”
Established under The Heritage Act 1995, the Heritage Council is a public body whose mission is to develop a wide understanding of the vital contribution that Irish heritage makes to the social, environmental & economic well-being of Ireland.
