Carlow County Council will receive over €2.7m increase in funding in 2024

The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD announced today that a €75.4m increase in Local Property Tax (LPT) baseline funding will be given to Local Authorities - bringing the total to €428.4m in 2024 – following a review of how the money is allocated.

Carlow County Council will receive an increase of €2,775,813 in Local Property Tax (LPT) baseline funding in 2024 which will bring the proposed baseline figure to €8,914,470 next year.

Local Fianna Fáil TD, Jennifer Murnane O'Connor said: "As well as assisting local authorities to meet the costs of providing essential services, ensuring a minimum increase in baseline funding to the local authority enables a level of flexibility and discretion for the authority to address local resource demands arising from the delivery of priority Government initiatives.

The funding today should go a long way towards easing the pressure on the sector.''
