Antisocial behaviour forces closure of Students Union at SETU Carlow campus

The Student's Union at South East Technological University Carlow campus announced across their social media platforms that they have decided to close their doors today, Wednesday 22nd November, due to anti-social behaviour.

Speaking on social media, they commented on the situation, "It's unfortunate that we're forced to do this. Due to reoccurring incidents of antisocial behaviour, littering, and other unacceptable actions, we will be fully closing the SU tomorrow.

Our staff has had to deal with harassment, cleaning up people's spilt drinks and food, and much more these last few weeks. Despite our attempts to eliminate this behaviour, it continued. Today, our admin staff had to scrape stickers off the SU floors and walls that were stuck all over the SU pool area, even some stuck to the pool tables.

This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable in a University. Going forward, we will be implementing a food/drink ban. If this behaviour continues we will have to take further action and ban other activities also."

Some followers of the SU Instagram page commented under their post with one person stating "this is just saddening to hear of a place I've had fond memories made" while another commented "that’s a real shame, I had fond memories and I will always remember how nice the staff were there."
