Met Éireann issue Status Yellow warning as temperatures plummet to -5C
Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning for Carlow valid until 11am Monday 15th January.
Frost and ice this Monday morning will be slow to clear and linger in some sheltered areas through the day. According to Met Éireann, it will be largely dry with spells of winter sunshine, though some showers may occur, most likely in the north of the province.
Highest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees, in light, occasionally moderate, northwest winds.
Monday night will become generally cloudy over the north of the province with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow following. Drier and clearer further south with some fog or freezing fog patches developing.
Lowest temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees in light to moderate southwest to west winds.

National Outlook: Very cold through the working week with widespread frost and ice leading to hazardous travelling conditions. Plenty of dry weather expected away from the north and northwest where wintry showers will be most frequent.
