Father Tom Little spoke to Mary Wilson in an RTÉ radio interview on Morning Ireland this morning
Local parish priest Father Tom Little spoke to Mary Wilson in an RTÉ radio interview on Morning Ireland this morning (February 1) about the recent fatal crash which saw three young people killed and one injured.
'You got the call you must always dread around midnight last night. What happened?' asked RTÉ broadcaster Mary Wilson.
Fr Little stated: 'I did indeed, I got a call and I went out to the car accident that was reported to me and when I got there the emergency services were in attendance and sadly three young people lost their lives in the car.'
'I gave them the sacrament of The Last Rites of the Church and blessed them and as a group we stood around and prayed together for them and for their families. It's a terrible loss, it's a terrible loss.'
RTÉ Radio 1's Mary Wilson asked: 'Can we talk as well about the area where this happened? I understand its known as the Leagh area, the townland, it's on the N80. What sort of a stretch of road is it?'
Fr Little replied: 'There's a long stretch coming from Carlow towards Ballon and it looks as if the car was travelling that way and there's a well sign posted bend but it has claimed the lives of a number of people who have had an accident in that particular place but I don't know what happened you know.'
Fr Little stated: 'It's just so sad that so many young people lose their lives in car accidents.'
