WHAT'S ON: Carlow's main street to be transformed as Streetfest is launched

Carlow's main street, Tullow Street is to be transformed as Streetfest is launched. 

Tullow Street is going to be home to many fun activities and entertainment over the weekend.

It begins on Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th. 

Organised by the Carlow County Council, Streetfest promises to be an exciting array of activities and entertainment suitable for all age groups. It will also incorporate the pedestrianisation of Lower Tullow Street. Aiming to create a better shopping experience and unforgettable atmosphere. The events will occur of 6 weekends starting April 5th-6th and continuing on 12th-13th April 2024, 3rd-4th May 2024, 10th-11th May 2024, 31st May – 1st June and 7th-8th June 2024.

At the launch of Streetfest Cllr. Andrea Dalton, Cathaoirleach  had this to say:  “I am delighted to see this program of activities, which aims to support our local retail and hospitality businesses in Lower Tullow Street. Supporting local businesses is not just about economics; it's about preserving the heart and soul of our communities. When we choose to shop local, we invest in the livelihoods of our neighbours, foster economic resilience, and nurture the unique character of our towns and cities. Every purchase made locally is a vote for the continued prosperity and vitality of our community, and Streetfest provides an opportunity for a family fun experience while also giving back to the local economy by shopping locally.”

On the agenda for Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th is: 

Free Face Painting / Street Performances

1pm-3pm: Pan Celtic Parade & After Performance

Monsieur Gusto - Circus show (3.20pm Show & 4.30pm Show)

Saturday 6th April 2024

Programme includes

Free Face Painting / Street Performances

10am-12noon: KCLR Live from Lower Tullow Street

12pm-3pm :Monsieur Gusto - 2 circus Show (2.00pm Show / 3.30pm Show)
