Tributes pour in for a Carlow native who was 'a great GAA man' following his passing

Tributes pour in for Dan Harnedy of 1 The Glade, Oak Park, Carlow and formerly of Kanturk, Cork following his passing.

Dan passed away peacefully at the Talbot Lodge Nursing Home, Malahide, Dublin.

Beloved husband of the late Miriam (Sue), much loved father of Mary Ellen and Richard and cherished grandfather of Michael and Emma Harnedy and Emma Broderick.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family, grandchildren, son-in-law Adrian, daughter-in-law Daniela, sisters Nora, Ger and Marian, brothers-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie: "So sorry to hear of Dan's passing. A true gentleman and great GAA man and did a lot for hurling in Carlow. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Harnedy Families at this sad time and may Dan's gentle soul rest in peace."

Another reads: "Deepest condolences to the extended Harnedy family at Dan's sad passing.A proud Corkman who won a championship with us in the late sixties. Ar dheis De go raibh a Anam dilis."

And finally: "Sad to hear of the passing of Dan Condolences to Mary Ellen,Richard grandchildren and extended family on your loss Rest in peace Dan.

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at Carpenters Funeral Home, Shamrock Square, Carlow (Eircode R93 C863) on Thursday, April 25th, from 5pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm that evening.

Funeral Mass on Friday morning at 11am in The Holy Family Church, Askea, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.
