Tributes are being paid to former army from Myshall Carlow following his passing

Sylvester (Syl) Finn - Sunday 5th May 2024

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Sylvester (Syl) Finn Ex Corporal Depot Cav, Plunkett Barracks, The Curragh Camp, formerly of Aclare, Myshall, County Carlow.

Syl passed away peacefully at Suncroft Lodge Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

Pre deceased by his son Gerry. Sadly missed by his loving wife Ann, sons Michael and Syl Jnr, daughters Olivia and Mary and their partners, grandchildren Corey, Mia, Adam, Aine, Katie and Dylan, brothers Neddy and Joe, nephews and nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of RIP.ie and read as follows: 

"Sincere sympathies to the Finn family on Syls passing. Served with him in Plunkett Bks many years ago and he was an integral member of the Depot team. May he rest in peace."

Another reads: "Deepest sympathy to the Finn family on the sad passing of Syl. May he rest in peace. I had the pleasure of working with him for over 20 years."

A third tribute reads: "Condolences to you Mick and your family on your sad loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you all. May Mr Finn rest in peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at Glennons Funeral Home, 32 Main Street, Newbridge, from 4pm on Wednesday with Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Thursday morning to arrive at St. Brigid's Church, The Curragh, for requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge. Mass will be live streamed on the St. Brigid's Church, The Curragh, Facebook page: The Curragh Church
