WEATHER: 'Cloudy and wet throughout the afternoon' Carlow weather updates for the day

Cloudy and damp

Following a great weekend of weather in Carlow, the weather forecast for the day does not make great reading as it seems to be back to business as usual.

Carlow Weather on X and Met Éireann have provided their forecast for the day following the great weekend.

Firstly, Carlow Weather on X: "Rain marching North but the clearance has already arrived in the far Southwest. I could hear the grass growing this morning!"

"Rain has returned in style and moving up the country through this morning but brighter weather following behind it later. 20mm has fallen already at Sherkin Island in Cork."

And then looking to Met Éireann's weather forecast: "Overnight rain will spread from the south on Monday morning, reaching all areas by early afternoon, heavy at times. Staying rather cloudy and wet throughout the afternoon but drier conditions will gradually move up from the south. Cooler than recent days with highest temperatures ranging from 13 to 16 degrees with moderate east or southeast winds, fresh at times along Irish Sea coasts."

Then Met Éireann's prediction for the evening: "Tonight will bring some showery rain but overall a good deal of dry weather with some clear spells. Areas of mist and fog too, especially inland. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with light easterly winds."

An early look then to Tuesday morning: "Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle. A mixed day with mild sunny spells in places too. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees, best values well inland, all in moderate easterly winds."
