Tributes paid to beloved Carlow woman with 'great craic and a wonderful smile'

Sophia (Sonie) CONNOLLY (née Mulhall)- May 22nd 2024

Tributes have been paid following the death Sophia (Sonie) Connolly from 182 Pollerton Road, Carlow Town, Carlow.

Sophia passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of the late Charlie and adored mother of Dympna, Anne, Louise and Brian. Sadly missed by her heartbroken daughters, son, brothers Johnny and Tom, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren Emma, Nicholas, Rebecca, Louise, Colin, Holly, Sophie, James, Charlie, Alannah and Noah, her 9 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, Anne’s partner, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Tributes have been on the condolences section of RIP.ie: "Awh I'm so sorry to read of Sonie's passing. She was some woman for the stories, great craic and wonderful smile. I'm truly sorry for you all on the sad loss of your Mammy and Nanny.
May you rest in peace Sonie."

Another reads: "Ah Sonie, so very sad to see the passing of Sonie. A real lady and a bit of a legend in my opinion. Always had a word for you when she met you. She will be missed around the town. My deepest condolences to all Sonie's family. I know you will all miss her massive presence in your lives. Rest in heavenly peace."

A third tribute: "Sincere condolences to Sonie's daughters, son, grandchildren and her brothers Johnny and Tom on her sad passing.She was a lovely lady always. May Sonie rest in peace."

Funeral Arrangements 

Reposing at her home on Friday from 2pm to 8pm. Removal on Saturday morning to Holy Family Church, Askea to arrive for funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

House private outside of reposing times, please.

The family wish to thank most sincerely the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Luke’s Hospital for their wonderful care of Sonie.
