Tributes pour in for Carlow man who 'Always met with a laugh and a smile' following his passing

John (Johnny) O'BRIEN - Monday 10th June 2024

Tributes pour following the passing of John (Johnny) O’Brien of 9 The Laurels, Tullow Rd., Carlow and formerly of Clondalkin and Drimnagh, Dublin.

Johnny passed away peacefully on June 10th 2024 at Waterford University Hospital.

Beloved partner of Marie, much loved father of John, Gary, Karl, Mandy and the late Aaron and cherished brother of Teresa, Betty, Brendan, Madeline, Sammy, Eddie, Carol, Stephen, David, Ursula and Paul.

Deeply mourned and sadly missed by his loving partner, sons, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law David, daughters-in-law Nicole and Kay, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows:

"Rest in peace Johnny.
Always met with a laugh and a smile, condolences to all the family."

Another reads: "Farewell Johnny. Friend. Great memories of you and your sense of humour, since we met and became friends in Tom's Irish Bar Los Boliches. May you rest in Peace."

A third user writes: "Your work on Earth is done , Johnny.
We drank many a pint - and lifted the roof with the "Candy Store on the Corner".
You are with your Father and Mother now -belting out "I did it my way", like only you could sing it. Rest easy."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at Carpenter Bros Funeral Home, Shamrock Sq, Carlow (Eircode R93 C863) from 6pm on Wednesday, June 12th, concluding with Prayers at 8pm that evening.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11am in The Holy Family Church, Askea followed by funeral to Newland's Cross Crematorium for Cremation Service at 2.30pm.

Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to The Intensive Care Unit, Waterford University Hospital.
