Thousands of social media users are sending their very best wishes to Carlow Weather founder Alan O'Reilly and former KCLR broadcaster Eimear Ní Bhraonáin, who tied the knot in a memorable wedding ceremony yesterday.

O'Reilly shared a selfie of himself and his new wife, fellow Carlow native Ní Bhraonáin and their daughter Roise from the big day.

The happy couple secretly got engaged over a year ago in Donegal, and finally got the chance to celebrate their 'special day'.

Posting to social media, Alan O'Reilly commented; "A special day today so you may excuse the reduction in weather updates."

Followers from Carlow and further afield responded in huge numbers, with messages of congratulations reaching over 3,000 comments on Facebook alone.

Many comments also added that the Carlow weatherman deserved a well-earned break, with one commenter saying: "Enjoy your special day and never mind the weather, it can be a surprise for a few days".

Newlywed Eimear Ní Bhraonáin also shared the news to social media, saying: "Got a husband today. He is also handy at washing line forecasts".
