Decision made for extensive works on car park at popular Carlow supermarket

Carlow County Council has provided conditional approval for the demolition of five derelict homes to facilitate a new carpark on a Carlow supermarket premises.

The local Carlow supermarket is Raths Londis and is located on the Pollerton Road in Carlow Town.

The planning application was received by the Carlow County Council on the 22nd of February 2024 and the Council made a decision on the planning application in the past week.

The applicant is Willie Rath.

The proposed works include:

The demolition of five derelict dwellings and replace with additional car parking to the front of existing supermarket, new boundary wall and railings with all associated site works at Raths Londis and no's 5,6,7,8, and 9 Pollerton Road, Carlow.

The decision comes with a number of conditions for the proposed works to take place.

There are 20 conditions for the development that must be adhered to.

From the Carlow Council:

"Please note that this decision is subject to a 4 week appeals period, where appeals on the Planning Authority’s decision can be made to An Bord Pleanála."
