Tributes paid to a Carlow man who was a 'kind and gentle giant' following his passing

Edward HUGHES - Ballinabranna, Carlow - Tuesday 12th November 2024

Tributes have been paid following the passing of Edward Hughes of Ballinabranna and Clogrennane, Carlow.

Edward passed away peacefully after a ling illness bravely borne in the gentle care of the nurses and staff of Gowran Abbey Nursing Home, Kilkenny.

Sadly missed by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Betty) (Parsons), children Noel, Annerie, Elizabeth, Angela and Edwina, daughter-in-law Susana, grandchildren David and Carlos, sister Eleanor, brother Tim, brothers-in-law Jim, Michael and Richard, sisters-in-law Sheila, Mary, Bernadette and Gina, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Tributes have been paid on the condolences section of Rip.ie and read as follows: 

"Dear Angela, I’m very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. He was a kind & gentle giant. Thinking of you & your family at this sad & difficult time. Take care."

Another reads:

"Our sincere sympathy to Betty and family on the sad passing of your dear husband and father thinking of you all at this sad time."

Funeral arrangements 

Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home Pollerton Castle, Carlow on Thursday evening from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm Funeral Mass on Friday at 11am in St. Fintan’s Church, Ballinabranna (R93 PF77). Burial in the adjoining cemetery
