This week’s episode of new RTÉ Kids series ‘What’s Next?’ sees young Irish innovators with a healthy appetite for creativity develop big ideas to support the future of the food industry.
The third in the six-part series, airing on Thursday 28th November on RTÉ 2, features young inventors Ruben Lawless from Dublin, Kate Butler from Carlow and Tynan Lawson from Dublin.

During the show, the trio explore how autonomous tractors are taking farming to the next level with iTarra in Roscommon; learn how food scraps can be converted into culinary gold with Chef Paul Cunningham from Scopers in Dundrum, County Down; and meet with Azhar Murtaza of Born Maverick in Belfast to find out about low impact food alternatives.
Inspired by these innovations, the challengers are paired with celebrity researchers, social media star Adam Beales, actress Demi Isaac Oviawe and comedian MC Fitzpatrick, to compete to impress judge Fionn Ferreira with their own ideas.
What’s Next? was created by female led production company HopSkip Studios. Co-founder of HopSkip Aisling Gallagher comments: “Every episode of What’s Next? brings together some brilliant young minds with pioneering people from across Ireland.
“This episode, focusing on food, shows how much is already happening in the sector and how much more we can do with the input of the next generation! Ruben, Kate and Tynan come up with some amazing concepts all while learning a lot and having plenty of fun - the perfect combination!”
The series will culminate in a finale showdown as the top teams compete for the ultimate title of ‘What’s Next? Series Champions’, winning the golden brainbox and presenting their idea to a mystery millionaire investor.
What’s Next? airs on RTÉ2 on Thursday 28th November and is available to watch on RTÉ Player. The series is produced with support from Coimisiún na Meán and Northern Ireland Screen.
