Local Carlow GAA club, Éire Óg, have applied to Carlow County Council for extensive new planning works to their GAA grounds including new floodlights.
The planning permission was submitted on the 28th of January 2025 and the location of the works are at Éire Óg's GAA Grounds on the O'Brien road in Carlow.
The planning decision is set to be made by the Carlow County Council on the 24th of March 2025.

The works that are included in the planning application include:
To erect a 24 metre high monopole telecommunications support structure together with floodlights, antennas, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment.
And also for retention permission for the existing foundation plinth, ground equipment cabinets within a 3.25m by 4.3m timber fence compound. On completion of the works the existing 24 metre high monopole telecommunications support structure together with floodlights antennas, dishes and associated telecommunications equipment will be removed.
