RIP: Tributes have poured in for 'a lovely gentleman' from Carlow who sadly died

RIP Brendan Hackett

Tributes have poured in for a man from Carlow who sadly died recently.

Brendan Hackett was from Hacketstown in Carlow and late of Gorey in Wexford and died peacefully on the 7th October 2025 in the care of the staff of Carnew Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of Imelda and loving father of Christine and the recently deceased David, brother of George, Rich, Bill, Alice, Dolly, Breda, Anne and the late Mick and Florrie. He will be very sadly missed by his wife, daughter, brothers, sisters, grandchildren Jack, Cian, Shane, Lauren and Emma. son-in-law Shane (Weekes), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Brendan, with one mourner writing,

"Deeply saddened to hear of Brendan’s passing. It was a privilege to serve him over the years in the wagons, a true gentleman. He always had a smile and we’d have a great laugh. He’ll be fondly remembered and greatly missed. May he rest in peace. Thinking of you all at this time".

Another message said, "Condolences to Imelda, Christine, Shane and family and all the Hackett family on the sad passing of Brendan, a lovely gentleman. May his soul rest in eternal peace".
