Carlow fire brigade rushes to the rescue as small boat goes up in flames

Carlow Fire and Rescue Service were called to attend a fire that broke out on a boat on Tuesday night, 4 November.

In a post shared on Facebook, Carlow Rowing Club revealed the dramatic scenes that unfolded as a small boat went up in flames at the back of their gym during a training session. 

The club said: "Last night, while our junior boys and girls were doing their training sessions, we noticed the smell of smoke around the club. A small boat that had been moored at the back of our gym on the water was up in flames and close to the side wall."

Carlow Rowing Club coaches, including one who was coaching for the first time, managed to quickly call the emergency services who responded swiftly.

Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident and the fire caused no damage as it was hastily extinguished by the fire brigade.

Carlow Rowing Club shared: "We would like to thank Carlow Fire and Service rescue for their very quick response and all their help."
