Tributes have poured in following the sad passing of a man from Carlow remembered as a true gentleman.
Jim Hetherington was from Knockeen, Graiguenamanagh in Kilkenny, Castlecomer in Kilkenny and formerly Graiguenamanagh in Carlow
Jim died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on the 9th of November 2025.
Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife Máiréad, daughters, Gillian, Roisín and Mary, his adored grandchildren Niamh, Meadbh, Ruairí, Emily and Esmé, sons in law Patrick and Brian, his brothers, sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Jim, with one mourner writing,
"I met Jim at Intel. He was a kind and very humble man and a defender of right thing to say and do. I regret deeply missing his funeral and to all his family my sincere sympathy".

Another message said, "A great work colleague, full of dry wit and a wonderful way with people. Used to love listening to him recounting stories of his work in Africa. Condolences to all his family".
"Jim was a true gentleman and a great friend — his kindness, warmth, and good humour touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We have so many great memories of Jim - May you find comfort in many wonderful memories you created together, and may his gentle soul rest in eternal peace. With deepest sympathy," another person said.
