A young boy from Carlow was all set to start junior infants on September gone but instead was diagnosed with leukemia.
On the 9th of August four year old Charlie was diagnosed with leukemia and a GoFundMe was set up to help the family raise funds.
This is "something that us as a family never taught we would ever hear," a message on the GoFundMe for Charlie said.
"Leukemia treatment is very intense and Charlie has at least two years of treatment ahead of him. He will have lots of appointments for chemotherapy check up bloods and some procedures.
"A long road ahead but as a family we will make sure we are with him every step of the way. Due to taking time off work to care for Charlie we would really appreciate some help.
"All donations will go towards travel costs to and from hospital, overnight stays when he has multiple appointments, everyday living expenses while we are out of work for Charlie and his little brother Odhran.
"All donations are appreciated and every share shows great support and hope to our family. We thank everyone so much for there support so far and continued support as we help Charlie beat this".
The GoFundMe has raised €15,357 so far with the kind support from local people in County Carlow.
