William F. (Billy) Dunphy has been remembered by many as a gentleman who they will miss greatly

RIP: 'A wonderful man'- Heartbreak in Carlow after husband and father of five dies

Tributes have poured in for Carlow man William F. (Billy) Dunphy who sadly died recently.

Billie was from Rathnapish, Carlow and formerly Clonmel, Tipperary and died on December 6th 2025, peacefully at home, surrounded by his adoring family.
Beloved husband of the late Pat and dearly loved father of Martin, Marianne, Helen, Audrey and Alan. Sadly missed and forever loved by his heartbroken sons, daughters, brother Paddy, sons-in-law Brendan and Bobby, daughters-in-law Deirdre and Clare, cherished grandchildren Daragh, Ross, Diarmuid, Orlaith, Enda, David, Shane, Aoibheann, Hannah, Seán and William, brother-in-law Nigel, sisters-in-law Anne, Agnes and Carmel, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Predeceased by members of the Dunphy and the McQuaid families.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon in the Church of the Holy Family, Askea R93 AE39. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Family flowers only, please. Donations in his memory to the Poor Clare Sisters or Holy Angels Day Care Centre, Carlow.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Billie, with one mourner writing,

"We were just talking about Billy and came to the conclusion that he was honestly the kindest most loving gentle soul you could ever care to meet. He was simply loved by everyone who has the blessing of ever knowing him. May his beautiful soul rest in peace now with his beloved Pat. And may God give you all the strength you need to deal with this great loss".

Another message said, "Sincere condolences to the Dunphy family on the loss of your Dad & Grandad. Was always such a pleasure to meet Billy over the years. Such a warm way about him and always up for craic. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. RIP Billy".

"I am profoundly sad to learn of Billy’s passing. A huge loss for you and all those who knew and loved him. He was such a wonderful man, funny and smart, while also being so gentle and kind. I’m so sorry I cannot be there to support you during these difficult days, just as you were all there for my family many times. I will be thinking of you all and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. May Dear Billy Rest in Peace," another mourner said.
