A funeral mass was held for a father of two from Carlow who sadly died in hospital recently.
John Meaney was from Carlow Town and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 10th, 2025 in Portlaoise Hospital, Co Laois.
John was the beloved father of Paul and Lisa and will be sadly missed by his loving children, extended family, relatives and friends.
John's funeral mass was held on Friday December 12th at 12pm in The Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, Co Laois followed by a private cremation.
John’s family have extended their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Kilminchy Nursing Home in Portlaoise for the exceptional care, kindness, and friendship shown to him during his time there.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered John, with one mourner writing,
"So saddened to hear of Johns untimely passing many laughs and chats we had together deepest sympathies to Paul, Lisa and the Meaney family may he now rest in eternal peace".

Another message said, "I am deeply saddened by the passing of someone who meant so much to me. Their warmth, character, and impact will stay with me always. Please accept my sincere condolences. May John rest in peace".
"Rest in peace John...best neighbour and friend you are free of pain now....we will remember all the laughs and great times we had as neighbours...always ready to give a helping hand...you will always be in our thoughts and prayers," another mourner said.
