RIP: 'Such a nice lady'- Tribute paid to popular Carlow lady loved and missed by many

An elderly lady from Carlow has sadly passed away as messages of condolences pour in from family, friends and people in Carlow who knew and loved her dearly.

Mai (Mary) Dunne (née Fitzgerald) was from Fair Green and late of Royal Oak, Bagenalstown in Carlow and died peacefully, at her home, on Friday 2nd January in the loving care of her daughters Clair and Eleanor and her son-in-law Tommy.

Predeceased by her husband John, sisters Kathleen, Josie and Bridie.

Deeeply regretted by her daughters Clair and Eleanor, son-in-law Tommy, nephew Jim, niece Aileen, grand nieces Kate and Aoise, special friend and sister-in-law Peggy, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, kind neighbours, relatives and friends. Mai will also be missed by her much loved pets Simba and Lavender Rose.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Mai, with one mourner writing,

"Condolences to you Clair, Elinor and Tommy also Jim and Aileen and extended family at this very sad time. Fond memories of Mai who always loved a chat whenever we might meet about town, such a nice lady. Rest in Eternal Peace with John and your family who are gone before you".

Another message said, "Deepest Condolences to Clair Eleanor and Tommy. So sorry to hear of Mai passing, Mai was a great friend and a very kind soul to me in all my years in Bagenalstown. She would pop in always with the brown bread and flowers every week. Mai and Bridie (rip) her sister were two of Connolly's great bakers not forgetting John (rip) also. Rest in Peace Mai with all who have gone before you".

"Sincere condolences to Clair and Eleanor on the passing of your dear mother Mai. I always remember your mam as a lovely lady always with a beautiful smile and always had time for a chat. Rest In Peace Mai," another mourner said.
