One of the standout successes came from St Leo’s College, where Naomi Picovici was named 1st Intermediate Individual winner in the Biological and Ecological Sciences Category, presented by Amgen.

Naomi’s award-winning project, titled “Like Mother Like Daughter: Pursuing Beneficial Traits of Native Irish Queen Bees Through Controlled Breeding to Ensure Species Survival in Changing Climates,” also earned her the Climate Change Solutions Award.

Carlow was also well represented by students from St Mary’s Academy CBS, who showcased their work in two separate teams at the exhibition.

TJ Keating, Craig Power and Karol Szatkowski took part with their project “Watts at the Door”, while classmates Irshad Hanafi, Emil Jaskula and Siddharth Sharma also featured with their project “AQD 17”.

St Leo’s College had another team on display, with Liela Abdallah, Amala Roney and Lojain Ahmed Abdallah presenting their project “Don’t let it get Under your Skin – Exploring the hidden impact of beauty routines, from UV exposure to aesthetic pressure, and our health beneath the surface”.
