The former Ulster Bank building in Carlow will get a new lease of life as planning permission to transform the building has been approved.
Delta Centre has got the go-ahead to redevelop the premises of Kennedy Avenue into a day care centre.
"When it’s open, it will support the community for many years to come," Joe Meaney, Chief Executive of the respite care service, told the Nationalist.
He added that the Centre will now start the tendering process for the construction work.
The new premises will include space for a new day service and administration offices on the ground and first floors.

There will also be four training rooms, an art room, and four office spaces upstairs.
The planning permission was granted on February 16th, with Carlow County Council stating that Delta must submit plans for signage on the building before starting any construction work.
The local authority also said that the work on the building must not interfere with the footpath or traffic on the road outside of the building.
It's hoped that the new day care centre will be open by the end of the year.
