Tributes have poured in following the passing of a woman from Carlow who will be greatly missed by many people.

Marion Farrell (née Parker) was from 2 Station View, The Green, Hacketstown, Carlow and formerly Baltinglass in Wicklow and Anglesey, Wales and passed away on 11th March 2026 peacefully at Wexford General Hospital.

Predeceased by her brother John and sisters Mavis, Sylvia, Pamela and Noelene; Marion is sadly missed by her loving family, her daughter Julie and her husband Robert, son Ross and his wife Emma, niece Faith and her husband Benny, beloved grandsons Loki, Orin, Fáelán, extended family and her many friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Marion, with one mourner writing,

"Marion was considered a Nanny to our whole family, from a young age I remember visiting her for Christmas parties and other get togethers, she always spoilt and looked after us all so well! She will be dearly missed, love to all that knew her".

Another message said, "So sad to hear of your passing. 68 years of happy memories to look back on, camping in Glengarriff, kissing the Blarney Stone, Julie’s birth and later wedding day to Robert, my thoughts with them and Faith and Benny. Rest in peace lovely lady".

"Our deepest sympathy to you all. Marion was such a lovely, gentle lady, always smiling and friendly. We will miss her. May she rest in peace," another person said.
