People in Carlow are encouraged to attend a national fundraising event, A Walk in the Park for Parkinson’s, in Oak Park.
Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive neurological condition which affects an estimated 18,000 people in Ireland, a figure projected to double by 2050.
The condition was originally characterised by motor symptoms such as tremor at rest, slowness of movement and muscle rigidity.
However, more than 40 symptoms are now associated with Parkinson’s, including a range of non motor symptoms that can
significantly impact daily life.

The event aims to raise both awareness and funds for the services and supports provided by Parkinson’s Ireland to people living with Parkinson’s disease, their families and care partners.
