Tributes have poured in following the death of a woman from Carlow who will be missed greatly by many.
Helen Mayling (née Nolan) was from Graiguecullen, Carlow and was the former Matron of The Sacred Heart Hospital in Carlow.
She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 24th, 2026 at her home.
Beloved wife of the late Michael, much loved mother of Nigel and Corina, adored grandmother of Ronan, Katie, Neil, Orla and David and cherished sister of Dinny, Seamus, Margaret, Kathleen, Mary, Bernie, Dympna, Anna and the late Ted, Paddy, Maurice and Liz.

She will be sadly missed by her loving son, daughter, grandchildren, daughter-in-law Fiona, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunt Breda, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Helen, with one mourner writing,
"My sincere sympathy to Corina and Nigel on the sad passing of your dear mother Helen, she was indeed dedicated to her work as a matron I worked for her, she had great quality care for all her patients and staff quality hard to find, may you rest in peace Helen, you did great work my sympathy to all the Nolan families".
Another message said, "My sincere condolences to Corina and Nigel the Mayling family extended family and friends on the passing of your loving mam she was a wonderful neighbour when she lived in 21 Springfield drive she was a lady with a lovely smile may her sweet gentle soul rest with the angels and may Helen have eternal rest thinking of you all at this sad time".
"Condolences to Corina and all of Helen’s family, Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew her, always a smile and a laugh to share," another person said.
