Carlow musicians have been awarded almost €3,000 through Music Capital Scheme Awards
Carlow Choral Society received €393 and John Gibbons received €2,249.
The scheme is made up of five distinct awards and provides funding for the purchase and restoration of musical instruments and selected equipment.
Awards 1, 2 and 3 support non-professional performing groups and individual professional musicians.
In Award 1, funding was awarded across the non-professional music sector, providing a range of community music groups with financial support.
This is the award that the Carlow Choral Society received.

In Award 2,was given to established musicians performing at a professional level, such as Carlow's John Gibbons, to assist with the purchase of musical instruments and equipment.
Award 3 is granted to individual emerging professional performing musicians to assist in the purchase of musical instruments and equipment.
At total of €1,066,940 was awarded through the Music Capital Scheme this year.
Since it was established 18 years ago, the Scheme has mde 848 awards to individual musicians and organisations and provided access to musical instruments for over 65,000 people.
It is supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
