ALERT: Carlow towns without water after a large burst on a watermain as works underway

Uisce Eireann

Uisce Éireann is working to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in North Carlow and South Kildare following a large burst on a watermain.

The areas affected are Rathvilly, Bough, Cuckoo Corner, Slaney Bank, Ricketstown and surrounding areas in Co. Carlow and Castledermot, Moone and Timolin and surrounding areas in South Kildare.

Uisce Éireann’s Shane Aylward has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore full water supply as quickly as possible.

“The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible but are complex due to the location and size of the burst. We understand the inconvenience an unplanned interruption can have on our customers and appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible."

Every effort is being made to reduce the impact on homes and businesses and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

Repairs are expected to be completed later this afternoon; it may take two to three hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by this unplanned interruption.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
