The NCT test centre in Carlow has the lowest pass rate in the county, latest figures reveal.
Just over half of vehicles passed on their first try in Carlow, meaning it had the lowest rate in Ireland, at just 42%.
However, a neighbouring county had the highest pass rate in the country.
Six in ten of the 42,000 vehicles inspected in Portlaoise passed on the first attempt last year.
34,000 cars were checked at the centre in another midlands test centre, Tullamore, where 57% of those passed on the first-go.
