An Garda Síochána are investigating a spate of burglaries in one West Clare village.
Gardaí in Miltown Malbay are investigating a number of incidents that took place in the village of Clohanbeg, that took place over a three-day period last week, from Thursday July 20 to Saturday July 22.
A number of items were taken from a locked shed at some time between 6pm on Thursday evening and 11.30am Friday morning in the Miltown area of Clohanbeg. Among these items were two Kango hammers, a number of copper cylinders, and copper piping.
During the following night the same property was re-entered and a number of items were taken. This was discovered by the
owner in the very early hours of the morning.
A second burglary occurred in the same area of Clohanbeg between 21.30pm Thursday evening and 12.30pm Friday afternoon.
Having discovered his neighbour had suffered a burglary, a property owner checked his property and discovered a silver double cow trailer had been taken from his shed. Also taken was a large quantity of agricultural diesel from a tank also located in the shed.
It is possible that the trailer taken was subsequently used during the burglary of a neighbour’s property to load items.
Sometime between midnight on Friday and 09.00am on Saturday it was discovered that a lock was broken to a vacant house, however nothing was taken from the premises on this occasion.
In statement Gardaí said "For these burglaries we are appealing to anybody who may have come across someone towing a cow trailer late Thursday night or in the early hours of the morning on Friday to please contact your local station."
If anyone has any information in relation to these incidents or if anyone witnessed, anything they are encouraged to contact the local Garda Station, any Garda Station or the Confidential Line: 1800 666 111
