Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival runs until September 30
HUNDREDS of local and international singletons are set to descend on west Clare this month for the matchmaking festival which is underway in Lisdoonvarna
The month-long festival, which began on Friday, attracts people from all over the world who are looking for love, fun and a bit of ‘craic’.
The traditional festival is over 165 years old and couldn’t be more different from modern-day smartphone apps and online dating services.

There will be music and dancing in every bar in the town from 12pm each day and those looking for love can meet Ireland’s only traditional matchmaker Willie Daly in his ‘office in the Matchmaker Bar.
Legend has it that if you touch his ‘lucky book’ with both hands, you’ll be married in six months!
