THREE Tidy Towns groups in Clare are celebrating after being awarded gold medals in this year's competition.
The overall results were announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys at an event in Croke Park, Dublin this Friday lunchtime.
Gold medals were awarded to Ennis Tidy Towns, Ballyvaughan Tidy Towns and Kilrush Tidy Towns while bronze medals were awarded to five Tidy Towns groups - Shannon, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Quin, Clarecastle and Tuamgraney.
The County award for Clare went to Ennis Tidy Towns, which achieved 374 while Ballyvaughan ranked second and Kilrush third.
Elsewhere, Inagh Tidy Towns received an endeavour award for being the most-improved entrant in Clare while Shannon Shannon Tidy Towns was named the overall national winner in the 'Tree Project' category.
The overall winner of the SuperValu Tidy Towns competition was Abbeyleix in County Laois.
