Traffic calming measures planned for Clare town

CLARE County Council has confirmed plans to install traffic calming measures in Mountshannon.

The local authority is proposing carry out works in areas including to the front of Aistear Park continuing east to the junction with Harbour Road/L-8078. 

According to a public notice, the works will involve the upgrading of the existing footpaths and the construction of new footpaths to the north and south of R-352 (Main Street) in the village.

The project will also include the installation of kerbing and footpaths, dished kerbing, tactile paving, controlled crossing and uncontrolled tabletop crossings, signage, all associated road markings, ancillary works.

Additional ducts for public lighting, ESB, fibre, relocating and installation of gullies and drainage works will also be carried out.

A public consultation process is underway and plans and particulars of the proposed scheme can be views at clarecoco.ie up until until November 7.
