In Pictures: Out and about at the Christmas Day swim in Lahinch

MORE than 1,000 people took part in the annual Christmas Day swim at Lahinch.

All of the monies raised from the event, which has been hailed as a major success, will benefit the Alzheimers Day Unit  Ennis.

The weather on the morning was mild with water temperatures estimated to have been around 9 degrees.

The organisers wish to thank Ollie O'Flaherty and all the safety crew who took great care of everyone and to Hanna who provided the entertainment and acted as MC.

The event was one of several charity events to take place across the Banner County over the festive period.
