Teen arrested after woman assaulted on flight diverted to Shannon Airport

A woman in her 20s was assaulted

A man in his late teens has been charged following an incident on a flight to Tenerife, which was diverted to Shannon Airport.

Gardaí have charged the man who was arrested following an incident on board an aircraft that diverted to Shannon Airport on Wednesday, June 12. 

A woman in her 20s was assaulted during the incident.

According to a spokesperson for the gardai, they were alerted following reports of a disturbance on a flight from Glasgow to Tenerife, shortly after 5.30pm.

The aircraft diverted to Shannon Airport, where Gardaí boarded the plane. 

A male in his late teens was charged in connection with the incident under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
